Seitan Chorizo
A flavorful vegan alternative to traditional chorizo, made with seitan and a blend of spices.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup vital wheat gluten
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
Paprika, smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, oregano, coriander, and black pepper should all be mixed together in a bowl
Mix tomato paste, soy sauce, olive oil, and vegetable broth in a different bowl
Mix the dry and wet ingredients together and knead them until dough forms
Cut the dough into smaller pieces and use your hands to make chorizo sausages
Wrap each sausage in a piece of foil
It takes 30 minutes to steam sausages
Sausage should be left to cool down before it is unwrapped and used
