Black Sesame & Almond Crusted Ahi Tuna

This recipe features succulent Ahi Tuna steaks coated in a crunchy blend of black sesame seeds and almonds, infused with a flavorful marinade of soy sauce, honey, ginger, and garlic. Ingredients:

  • 4 Ahi Tuna steaks 6 oz each
  • 1/4 cup black sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup almonds, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for searing

Instructions:

In a shallow dish, mix together black sesame seeds and chopped almonds

In another dish, whisk together soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic to make the marinade

Season both sides of each tuna steak with salt and pepper

Dip each tuna steak into the marinade, ensuring its well coated

Next, press each side of the tuna steak into the black sesame and almond mixture, ensuring a thick coating

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat

Once the oil is hot, add the tuna steaks and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side for rare to medium-rare, or longer if desired

Remove from the skillet and let the tuna rest for a few minutes before slicing

Serve the sliced tuna immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired
