For Halloween parties, these Broken Glass Cupcakes are a scary and beautiful treat. Colorful melted hard candies are used to make the broken glass effect. They are great for giving your dessert table a creepy touch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of chocolate cupcake mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Red, blue, and green food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups clear hard candies assorted colors
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • Halloween-themed cupcake toppers optional
  • Black cupcake liners

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and line a cupcake pan with black cupcake liners

Prepare the chocolate cupcakes according to the package instructions

Let them cool completely

In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and 1/4 cup of water

Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves

Bring to a boil and cook without stirring until it reaches 300F 150C on a candy thermometer

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly

Break the clear hard candies into small pieces and place them in separate bowls

Add a few drops of red food coloring to one bowl, blue to another, and green to a third bowl

Mix until the candies are coated in color

Place parchment paper on a baking sheet and arrange the colored candies in a single layer, keeping the colors separate

Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes, or until the candies melt and spread to form broken glass shapes

Remove from the oven and let them cool completely

Melt the white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth

Carefully dip the top of each chocolate cupcake into the melted white chocolate, allowing it to drip down the sides like icing

While the white chocolate is still wet, sprinkle the broken glass candy pieces on top of the cupcakes to create a shattered glass effect

Optional: Decorate with Halloween-themed cupcake toppers for an extra spooky touch

Let the cupcakes sit until the white chocolate hardens and the glass is firmly attached

This should take about 30 minutes

Serve and enjoy your Halloween Broken Glass Cupcakes
